Some tips from Steph
Make it gluten free! This recipe can easily be made gluten free by using a gluten free soy sauce or tamari. Tempeh is naturally gluten free so this recipe would be a breeze!
Make it low sodium! Make this vegan tempeh bacon recipe low in sodium by using a low sodium soy sauce!
Use tofu instead! If you can’t find tempeh or do not like tempeh you can sub it for extra firm tofu! Just make sure to press the tofu first for 15 minutes using a tofu press so that the tofu is not too wet and is able to crisp up!
Can’t find liquid smoke? You can use extra smoked paprika instead!
How to eat your crumbled tempeh
On a salad or Buddha bowl! I love adding this tempeh on top of my vegan Caesar salad recipe found here but it honestly tastes amazing on pretty much any salad or bowl!
On top of soups! These crumbles are amazing on creamy soups such as potato leek soup, my vegan broccoli cheese soup recipe and more!
On top of pasta! I love adding these crumbles on top of all of my pastas for an added protein boost! My favorite is adding it on top of my avocado pesto pasta recipe!
In a tempeh bacon sandwich is burrito! These would be unreal in a burrito or wrap or as an addition to a sandwich with some hummus and veggies! You could even make a tempeh (bacon), lettuce and tomato sandwich, a ‘TLT’ if you will!
