They are the prefect fun snack to make for your family and friends and are my go to recipe for the super bowl! They are salty, buttery, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and pure addiction. Try them with my healthy vegan cheese sauce, they don’t taste the same without it!

Vegan Pretzel Bites

What ingredients do I need?

  • All Purpose Flour
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • Instant Yeast
  • Water
  • Baking Soda
  • Vegan Butter
  • Flakey or Kosher Salt

How to make the fluffiest vegan pretzel bites:

Start by making the pretzel dough in a bowl by mixing together flour, salt, sugar and instant yeast. Once that is combined mix in your warm water with a spatula, until the dough becomes shaggy. Pop the dough onto a clean surface and knead for about 5-10 minutes until the dough comes together and is completely smooth.

Proof the dough in a greased bowl until it has doubled in size. Roll and cut the dough into bite sized pieces and pop them into a baking soda bath (which is just warm water and baking soda).

Place your dough onto a baking tray, top with coarse salt and bake! When they come out of the oven brush generously with vegan butter immediately. Dunk these puppies in a vegan cheese sauce and enjoy!

Buttering pretzel bites

Some tips from Steph:

  • These pretzels are best served warm out of them oven.
  • Make sure to brush with vegan butter or oil right when they come out of the oven.
  • Serve with my healthy vegan cheese sauce, your mind will be blown!
  • This recipe makes about 35 bites, but they are VERY easy to eat. One batch is usually good for 4 people. If you have more I highly recommend making a double batch!
  • You can use the dough to make Vegan Cinnamon Bites instead!
  • Make it gluten free by using your favourite gluten free flour blend.

***Sub for active dry yeast***
If using active dry yeast instead, mix 1 tbsp yeast with 1/4 cup warm water and a pinch of sugar & let sit for 10 min then add with the rest of the ingredients and decrease the amount of water added by a 1/4 cup.
