This apple pie smoothie recipe has got to be one of the best smoothie creations I’ve ever made! It seriously tastes like an apple pie but it is so healthy you can have it every day! This smoothie has fall spices, is sweetened naturally with dates and is the perfect filling on the go drink! It is also gluten free and dairy free and can be made high protein!

How to make your apple pie smoothie

Freeze your fruit: First things first if you want an ice cold smoothie you need to freeze your fruit before hand! I always have a container of cut up bananas in my freezer to use for smoothies, smoothie bowls, nice cream, and more! When I make this smoothie I put one cut up apple in the freezer the night before. You can also cut up a bunch of apples and freeze them if you know you’ll be making the smoothie again!

Blend it up: Add all of your ingredients to your high speed blender and blend until smooth! I swear by my Vitamix and use it for EVERYTHING, it is seriously the best investment I’ve ever made!

Serving: If you want to be fancy or you’re trying to impress guests you can cut up a sliced apple to use as garnish, sprinkle some cinnamon on top or place a cinnamon stick in the smoothie for decoration!

Freeze your fruit: Freezing your fruit makes such a big difference in this apple pie smoothie recipe (and most smoothies) because it makes them so cold and refreshing! I tried making this smoothie with room temperature fruit, adding in ice cubes to chill, and it came out watery and not as flavorful.

Dates work best! Use dates to sweeten this smoothie! It gives the most delicious caramel flavor! You also get small chunks of dates while you are drinking that make for the sweetest treat! If you are in a bind you can sub dates for maple syrup. It will still taste great, but not as good as the dates in my opinion.

Make a Smoothie Bowl: If you want to take this smoothie to the next level make it into an apple pie smoothie bowl! You can do this using the same ingredients! Just add as little plant milk as possible and blend using a tamper so the smoothie remains nice and thick!

Make Ice Cream: You can also make this recipe into an apple pie ice cream! Double the recipe and use at little plant milk as possible to blend so it stays nice and thick! Add to a small container and place in the freezer for a minimum of 5 hours and scoop away!

Substitutions & Additions

No Bananas: If you are not a huge fan of bananas you can omit and add extra apples! However, I find this does not produce as creamy of a consistency. If you want a creamier smoothie add a few tablespoons of coconut cream or vegan yogurt to thicken it up!

Make it High Protein: Make this apple pie smoothie high protein by adding in a half to a full scoop of vegan vanilla protein powder! Make sure to remove the vanilla from the recipe since the protein usually has vanilla already in it!

Lower calorie option: To make this apple pie smoothie recipe lower in calories remove the rolled oats.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Frozen Apple cut up and frozen the night before
  • 1 Frozen Banana
  • ¼ cup Oats
  • 2-3 Medjool Dates
  • ¾ tsp Vanilla
  • ¼ tsp Nutmeg
  • ¾ cup Plant Milk

Instructions
 

  • Freeze your banana and apple the night before. Cut into pieces then place in a container and put in the freezer.
  • Add all ingredients into a blender and blend smooth.
  • If you want to make a smoothie bowl add as little plant milk as possible and use a tamper to push everything into the blade.
