Recipe Tips for Protein Bowls
Choose Your Flour Wisely: Use white and whole wheat flour for the perfect balance of texture and nutrition. The white flour keeps the bowls light and fluffy, while the whole wheat flour adds fibre and a hearty texture. You can substitute oat flour for a gluten-free option, but remember that this may slightly alter the texture.
Yogurt Substitutions: If you don’t have coconut yogurt or prefer a different flavour profile, swap it out for unsweetened applesauce or mashed banana. Both options add natural sweetness and moisture, making them an excellent alternative while keeping the recipe vegan-friendly.
Make it Soy Free: Swap soy milk with other plant-based milk, such as almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk to make it soy free.
Nut-Free Icing Options: If you have a nut allergy or prefer to skip the cashews, you can create a nut-free icing by mixing yogurt with protein powder until it reaches an icing-like consistency.
Add Mix-Ins for Extra Flavor: Want to take your Birthday Cake Protein Bowls to the next level? Mix in your favourite additions for flavour and texture, like fresh or dried berries, frozen berries, chocolate chips, or shredded coconut, into the batter before baking.
Keep It Festive: Sprinkles are a must for the birthday cake theme, but you can also experiment with other fun toppings like crushed nuts, coconut flakes, or a drizzle of vegan chocolate.
