Dorito Flavored Pasta Chips {Viral TikTok Trend Made Vegan}
I’ve been seeing these pasta chips all over TikTok so I knew I had to give them a go and make them vegan! These pasta chips are crisped to perfection using an air fryer and seasoned with a Dorito-like nacho cheese spice! These cheesy vegan chips are so easy to make and are such a fun and simple snack!
What ingredients do I need for my pasta chips?
- Pasta
- Olive Oil
- Nutritional Yeast
- Onion Powder
- Garlic Powder
- Chili Powder
- Cumin
- Paprika
- Himalayan Salt
How to make this pasta chips recipe
Cook your pasta: The first step in making these pasta chips is to cook your pasta of choice. I used penne, but you can use bow ties, rigatoni, or whatever else you have on hand!
Season: Strain your cooked pasta and add it to a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, and add your nutritional yeast, spices and salt and mix well until combined.
Crisp em up: Pop your seasoned pasta into an air fryer and cook at 400f for 10 minutes until golden and crunchy. If you prefer your pasta chips baked or do not have an air fryer you can bake for 15-20 minutes at 400f tossing halfway through.
How to eat your pasta chips
You can eat your chips by themselves or make a sauce to dip in to. In the viral TikTok videos they are usually dipped into a marinara sauce, which would work well with these chips. However, I prefer to dip them into a vegan ranch dressing! You can find the recipe below, but it is basically a silken tofu based sauce with dill and lemon! The perfect combo to cut the spicy cheesy flavor!
Other ways to spice these chips
Plain: If you prefer your chips plain you can season with salt, pepper and paprika.
Buffalo Style: Toss your pasta in some Buffalo Sauce. I love using Frank’s Red Hot!
Cajun Spice: Try a Cajun spice mix with some oregano, thyme, paprika, garlic powder and cayenne.
Salt & Vinegar: I haven’t tried this yet but I think drizzling some white vinegar and salt would be insanely good!
High Protein: To make these high protein use a legume pasta such as chickpea or lentil!

Ingredients
Pasta Chips
- 200 g Pasta I used penne, but bow ties or rigatoni would also work!
- 1-2 tbsp Olive Oil
- ⅓ cup Nutritional Yeast
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Cumin
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- Salt to Taste
Easy Vegan Ranch
- ⅓ cup Silken Tofu
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 tsp Onion Powder
- 3 tbsp Fresh Dill
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Start by boiling your pasta until cooked. Strain and add to a large bowl.
- Drizzle your pasta with some olive oil and add in your spices and salt. Toss until well combined.
- Air fry at 400 degrees for 10 minutes until golden and crispy or bake at 400f for 15-20 minutes tossing halfway.
- For your easy vegan ranch, add all ingredients into a small blender and blend until smooth.
