How to make your buffalo chicken dip

This easy buffalo chicken dip is made in a few simple steps and is made with only 10 ingredients.

Start by adding the base ingredients into a high speed blender. You’ll need raw cashews, chickpeas, hot sauce, nutritional yeast, lemon juice, vegan chicken broth, garlic and onion powder and a pinch of salt! Blend until smooth then set aside. I use my Vitamix for everything!

If you do not have a high speed blender make sure to soak your cashews before hand to ensure the dip will be nice and creamy! Soak them in boiling water for 15 minutes or in room temperature water overnight.

Next, sauté your vegan chicken in a pan until crispy. I use the chicken by Sweet Earth Foods! Sauté until golden then add another splash of vegan chicken broth for extra flavor! I use the vegan chicken broth from better than bouillon!

Chop up your cooked chicken and slice up some green onions. Add them into your blender and mix to combine.

Add your dip into a greased baking dish. I used an 8 inch pie pan but any dish will work here! Spread it out and top with a sprinkle of vegan cheese. Bake for 20 minutes at 400f until heated through then top with some extra green onions and enjoy!

How to serve your vegan buffalo chicken dip

With tortilla chips or crackers! The classic way of eating buffalo chicken dip is with tortilla chips and it is also one of my favorite ways to eat it! I’d recommend going for a neutral flavored chip as the dip is so flavorful! We tried it with a lime flavored tortilla chip and there was honestly too much going on!

With some celery or carrots! Celery is anther classic dipper for a buffalo dip and for good reason! I absolutely loved the celery in this dip! It brought a lovely freshness to the dip. I even liked it better than the tortilla chips!

As a spread for sandwiches! Have leftover dip? Use it in your burritos, sandwiches, or add in into a quesadilla!

This dairy free buffalo chicken dip is a much healthier alternative to a traditional dip! This dip is dairy free, oil free and made with mostly whole foods! Instead of a base of high fat dairy products we use cashews and chickpeas which are loaded with beneficial nutrients, healthy fats and fiber! Make it nut free! You can make this dip nut free by swapping raw cashews for hemp seeds or sunflower seeds!

Soak your cashews! If you do not have a high speed blender make sure to soak your cashews in boiling water for at least 15 minutes to soften them! This will ensure the dip is nice and creamy! I use my Vitamix for everything!

Use a chicken flavored veggie broth for a nice chicken-y flavor! I use the vegan chicken broth from better than bouillon!

Don’t like vegan cheese? You can omit or top with some extra nutritional yeast!

Make it ahead of time! You can make this easy vegan buffalo chicken dip ahead of time and store it in the fridge. Just pop it in the oven when you are ready to enjoy!

Storing your vegan buffalo chicken dip

If you have leftover buffalo chicken dip you can store it in the fridge for up to 5 days! Reheat in the oven or microwave and try adding it to your sandwiches, burritos or make it into a quesadilla!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Raw Cashews
  • 1 can Chickpeas
  • cup Buffalo Hot Sauce I used Franks
  • ½ cup Nutritional Yeast
  • 3 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • ¾ cup Vegan Chicken Broth
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 tsp Onion Powder
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1 cup Vegan Chicken I use the chicken from Sweet Earth Foods
  • 4 sprigs Green Onions
  • ¼ cup Vegan Shredded Cheese

Instructions
 

  • Fist make the base of your dip. Add all of the ingredients, except for the chicken, green onions and vegan cheese into a high speed blender and blend until completely smooth.
  • If you do not have a high speed blender it is best to soak your cashews before hand so the dip comes out nice and creamy. You can soak them in boiling water for 15 minutes or overnight in room temperature water.
  • Next, pan fry your chicken until golden then add in a splash of vegan chicken broth.
  • Roughly chop your chicken into small pieces and chop up your green onions
  • Mix in the onions and chicken into your dip, reserving some onions to use for topping afterwards.
  • Transfer your dip into an oven safe dish. I used an 8×8 pie pan but any oven safe dish will work.
  • Sprinkle with vegan cheese and bake at 400f for 20 minutes.
  • Top with your reserved green onions and serve with tortilla chips and celery sticks.
