Recipe Tips for TVP Black Bean Burgers

Make them Soy-free: Swap TVP with extra black beans and oat flour until you get a burger meat like consistency. Swap soy sauce for extra salt.

Pulse, Don’t Purée: When blending the ingredients, pulse them until smooth but still with some small pieces intact to perfectly mimic that beefy texture. Over-processing can make the mixture too mushy, affecting the texture of the patties.

Firm Patties: Crush the patties between your hands to make them denser. Thicker patties may take longer to reach perfection, while thinner ones will shine more quickly without being mushy on the inside.

Toppings: Add your favourite toppings to amp up the nutritional value of your TVP black bean burgers. Consider avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and your favourite sauces or condiments.

Freezing: To freeze your patties place them on a lined baking tray. Once they are frozen you can take them out and place them into a large plastic bag or meal prep container for easy storage. The patties can be frozen for up to 3 months.
