How to make your air fryer flautas

This is sure to be one of your favorite air fryer recipes! They are simple to make and will WOW any of your family or friends!

First prep your ingredients. Chop up your onion and press your tofu to release the liquid. Grate your tofu using a cheese grater then cut the core off of your jackfruit and pull it apart with your hands.

Next, sauté your onions and garlic. Start with onions and cook until translucent then toast your garlic for one minute.

Then add in the rest of your ingredients. You’ll need your grated tofu, pulled jackfruit, BBQ sauce, spices, and liquid smoke. Cook for 5 minutes until heated through and mix to incorporate.

Add your filling to small flour tortillas along with some vegan cheese and roll them up nice and tight. You can also use corn tortillas to make vegan taquitos!

Place your flautas in the air fryer basket and spray them with olive oil. Air fry at 450 for 15 minutes or until golden.

While your flautas are in the air fryer make your coleslaw. Mash up one avocado with some lemon juice, maple syrup, salt and pepper and add water as needed to thin. Then mix in your coleslaw mix. You can buy a pre-packaged bag of coleslaw or make some yourself with shredded carrots, and cabbage!

Top your taquitos with the coleslaw and dunk into my homemade vegan sriracha mayo recipe. You can find the full recipe below!

Some tips from Steph

Make air fryer taquitos! The only difference between taquitos and flautas is the type of tortilla used! To make taquitos simply use corn tortillas instead of flour!

Use the oven instead! If you do not have an oven you can bake your flautas at 425 for 30-40 minutes or until golden.

Make it soy free! You can make this recipe soy free by swapping the grated tofu for extra jackfruit or mix in some black beans or rice!

Make them gluten free! You can make this recipe gluten free by using a corn tortilla instead of a flour tortilla!

Make it without jackfruit! If you do not have jackfruit you can sub it for one extra block of grated tofu or swap it for rice or black beans!

Use a different protein! You can use any protein you’d like for this recipe! You could do beans and veggies or use a mock meat and make air fryer chicken taquitos with your favorite vegan chicken!

Storing your pulled pork air fryer flautas

You can store your cooked flautas in the fridge for up to 5 days! They taste great cold right out of the fridge although they will not be crispy! You can pop them back into the oven or air fryer to heat them back up! You can also freeze them and reheat whenever you’d like to enjoy them!
